WOO HOO!
The CA Supreme Court just ruled that the law banning same-sex marriages is unconstitutional.

CA already has a good DP law, so this is specifically repudiating the separate-but-equal status of DP or civil unions -- the legislature isn't going to be able to get away with that here.

More later. Reading decision now.

So, you guys gonna get hitched? yeah, I know you're already hitched. But it would be a nice excuse to come down and see you and drink slushy alcoholic beverages...

We haven't talked about details. On the one hand, we've always said that we don't want to trivialize the last seven years by having a big ceremony as though things start counting from here.

On the other hand, I suspect one or both of our mothers might be unhappy if we got married without inviting them. So we'll have to talk about it.

But, as L-M says, who needs an excuse?

Well, you could have one of those confirmation/renewal of vows ceremony.

Or just a "now we have a goddamn actual marriage certificate" ceremony. With slushy alcoholic beverages, of course.
