The NYT had an amazing graph today on the breakdown of spending of the average American household:

You can zoom in to find that, for example, the average household spends 0.3% of their income on beer at home, and 0.5% on alcohol (not further subdivided) away from home, or that while the price of eggs has skyrocketed in the past year the prices of fresh vegetables has gone down sharply.
